When it comes to power and fluidity in women’s BMX, it’s hard to look past Perris Benegas. The 2020 Bloom BMX Freestyle Rider of the Year has a background in Muay Thai fighting that has instilled bravery in her riding. It’s her style, however, that has gained Perris recognition on a global stage. Named as Bloom BMX’s 2020 Freestyle Rider of the Year, as well as earning top honors at Vans 2019 BMX Pro Cup stops in Germany and Huntington Beach, California, Perris received a signature pro frame from Cult in 2021, alongside Vans and Cult teammate Angie Marino, marking a milestone for female BMX riders everywhere. The frame features a decal “Always Roasting,” referencing her love for coffee and giant airs. A current USA Cycling Athlete and Olympic hopeful, Perris is putting on the Fast & Loose DVD for inspiration before the session. While Reno, Nevada will always be home, Perris has put down roots with Kiah, her golden retriever dog in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she’s been focused on BMX to the fullest.
